Buying interlining wholesale works differently from retail fabric shopping. Interlining is not cut and sold metre by metre; it is sold by the roll, prices are quoted per roll, and choosing the right product group matters just as much as calculating the right number of rolls. In this guide we explain, step by step, how a garment workshop, a shirt manufacturer or a textile wholesaler should place an interlining order — whether you are buying wholesale interlining for the first time or you are an experienced buyer looking to change suppliers.
Telpa Tekstil is a consultative interlining importer and wholesale supplier, specialised in interlining since 1992. We are not a manufacturer; our job is to match the right interlining to the right application and to ship fast from stock in Istanbul. You can browse the full product range at onlinetela.com and follow wholesale terms on our wholesale interlining page.
Why is interlining sold by the roll?
Interlining is stored and shipped as cylindrical rolls wound around a cardboard core; in the trade this unit is called a roll ("top"). Because garment production uses interlining in volume, both production planning and pricing are done per roll. In wholesale, the minimum order unit is 1 roll; rolls are not opened and cut metre by metre.
The meterage inside a roll varies from product to product and is clearly stated in the product name and on the label. For example, in "SNT 137 Shirt Interlining (Top 125 m.)", the note in brackets tells you that one roll of that product holds 125 metres of interlining. In another series the figure may be different; that is why, before ordering, you should confirm the roll length of the specific product from its label or product page — don't guess, ask.
In practice this means the right question to ask your supplier is not "how much per metre?" but "how many metres are in one roll of this product, and how many rolls do I need?" If you roughly know your monthly consumption, converting it into a roll count is a few minutes' work — and we help you with that calculation.
What to check on the label: roll length, weight and category
In wholesale buying, the product label and product name are half the contract. Always read three pieces of information:
- Roll length: Stated in brackets — like "(Top 125 m.)", meaning a 125-metre roll. You calculate your order quantity from this figure.
- Weight (gsm): Describes the thickness and body of the interlining; the higher the weight, the stiffer and more upright it stands. The right weight is chosen according to how fine your fabric is and the hand you want — there is no rule that says "the highest is the best".
- Category: Is it shirt interlining, paper (nonwoven) interlining, or chiffon interlining? The category determines the application; use the product where its category says it belongs, not where its name might suggest.
If you send these three details together with your quote request, the process speeds up considerably. Instead of guessing at something you are not sure of, ask us — a roll bought on a wrong assumption is always cheaper than a problem discovered on the production line.
Ordering wholesale interlining in 4 steps
1. Define your needs
First clarify what you sew and what you need: shirts, jackets, or embroidery work? Which fabric do you work with, how many washes must the garment withstand, and what is your monthly production volume? The answers determine both the product group and the weight. If you are undecided, you can pre-screen options in a few questions with the Interlining Selection Assistant, then discuss the details with our team.
2. Choose the product group
Every interlining has its correct place, and a wrong match can ruin a garment within a few washes. For shirt collars and cuffs, wash-resistant woven shirt interlinings; for cost-focused, economical production, paper (nonwoven) interlining; for trouser and skirt waistbands, ready-made waistband are the right starting points. Let's be honest here: paper interlining is the most economical grade and is not recommended for shirts — in shirts, the job belongs to shirt interlining developed for exactly that purpose. Choose the product group according to your segment; and we will never steer you toward a product that isn't genuinely right for you.
3. Roll quantity
Read the roll length of your chosen product from the label, divide your monthly or per-order meterage requirement by that figure, and round up. Two common approaches: starting with a low roll count on your first order to test your consumption, or, in steady production, buying a period's requirement in one go to reduce shipping frequency. Your production rhythm determines which suits you; we settle it together at the quotation stage.
4. Quotation and shipping
Once the product group and roll quantity are clear, message us on WhatsApp to get a quote: which product, how many rolls, and where it should be delivered. We reply with current pricing and lead times. For high-volume, ongoing requirements, we prefer to meet face to face at our Istanbul office — clarifying both the terms and the product together works better for both sides.
Our sample and swatch card policy
We believe in being clear on this: sample and swatch card requests are evaluated on a per-project basis; product consultation comes first. The reason is simple — a sample sent without knowing your application, your fabric and your washing conditions is usually of the wrong product and wastes both sides' time. Write to us with which garment and which fabric you work with; let's determine the right product group together, and then plan the sample and swatch card step around your project. For requests tied to a serious production project, you won't leave this process empty-handed.
Getting a wholesale quote takes 5 minutes
Tell us the product group and your estimated roll count; we'll get back to you with current pricing and lead times. If you're undecided, just say "here's what I sew, here's my fabric" — we'll choose the product together.
Request a Quote on WhatsAppBuying from abroad: transit trade and bonded warehouse model
For garment makers and wholesalers buying from outside Turkey, we work with a transit trade and bonded warehouse delivery model. This model allows goods to be shipped efficiently to the international buyer via Istanbul; the ordering logic stays the same — product group, roll quantity, delivery point. From Georgia to the Balkans, from the Middle East to North Africa, we manage the process and the paperwork for requests coming from different markets. See our B2B page for the details of the model and export terms; for first contact, WhatsApp is again all you need.
Final check before you order
Before requesting a quote, run through this list quickly; it speeds things up on both sides:
- Is the application clear? Shirt, jacket, waistband, embroidery — each is a different product group.
- Does the product group match your segment? Economical interlining for economical production, shirt interlining for quality shirts; don't mix the two.
- Have you confirmed the roll length from the label? It varies from product to product; don't assume.
- Have you calculated the roll quantity? Meterage needed ÷ roll length, rounded up.
- Is the delivery information ready? A domestic address in Turkey or an international delivery point.
If you've completed these five items, your order is practically ready. If anything is missing, no problem — consultation is half of what we do anyway. Review the wholesale interlining terms and message us on WhatsApp; let us do for you what we have been doing since 1992: deliver the right interlining, in the right roll quantity, on time.
